When You Need Emergency Dental Care, We're Here
A dental emergency is one of the most stressful and disorienting experiences a person can face, such as sudden, severe pain, a broken or knocked-out tooth, a swollen face, or a lost crown at the worst possible moment. In those moments, the last thing anyone needs is to be told to call back on Monday, wait weeks for an appointment, or sit in a walk-in clinic waiting room for hours.
At Cariboo Choice Dental, we built our practice specifically to be there when patients need us most. We are open 7 days a week, 8 AM to 8 PM, including evenings, weekends, and holidays — and we do everything possible to offer same-day emergency appointments for patients experiencing acute dental pain, injury, or urgent dental concerns.
No being turned away. No being told there's nothing available until next week. No waiting rooms full of suffering. Just prompt, compassionate, skilled emergency dental care, whenever you need it, right here in Williams Lake.

What Is a Dental Emergency?
Not every dental concern requires a same-day appointment but knowing which situations are genuinely urgent can make a critical difference to both your comfort and the outcome of your treatment. Here is a guide to recognising a dental emergency:
- Severe tooth pain — Persistent or throbbing pain that may indicate infection or damage.
- Dental abscess or facial swelling — Signs of a serious infection requiring immediate attention.
- Knocked-out tooth — Fast treatment can improve the chances of saving the tooth.
- Broken or cracked tooth — Prompt care helps prevent further damage and infection.
- Lost crown or filling — Exposed teeth should be treated as soon as possible.
- Cuts to the lips, cheeks, or tongue — Significant bleeding or injury may require urgent care.
- Broken orthodontic appliance — Damaged braces, aligners, or retainers can cause discomfort and treatment delays.
- Partially dislodged tooth — A displaced tooth needs immediate assessment.
- Sudden gum swelling — May indicate an infection that requires same-day treatment.
Our Commitment to Emergency Dental Care in Williams Lake
At Cariboo Choice Dental, our approach to emergency dental care reflects a core belief: patients in pain deserve to be seen promptly, not told to wait, not turned away, and not left managing a dental crisis without professional support.
Here is what our commitment to emergency care looks like in practice:
- Open 7 Days a Week, 8 AM–8 PM: Dental emergencies happen on Saturdays. They happen on Sunday evenings. They happen at 7 PM on a Tuesday when every other dental office in Williams Lake has been closed for two hours. Our extended hours mean that whenever an emergency strikes, day, evening, or weekend, we are open and available to help.
- Same-Day Appointments Whenever Possible: We do not ask emergency patients to book weeks in advance. We do everything possible to accommodate same-day emergency appointments for patients in acute pain or distress. If you call us in the morning with a dental emergency, our goal is to see you that day.
- No Treatment Waiting Lists: We have no treatment waiting lists at Cariboo Choice Dental. Emergency patients are not placed on a queue and told to wait their turn. We treat urgency as urgency, because that is what patients in pain deserve.
- A Calm, Compassionate Approach: We understand that patients arriving for emergency dental care are often in pain, frightened, and stressed. Our team is trained to provide a calm, reassuring, and compassionate experience, taking the time to listen, explain, and support every emergency patient through their treatment from the moment they arrive.
- Prompt Follow-Up Care: Emergency treatment addresses the immediate concern, but our team also ensures every emergency patient has a clear plan for the follow-up care needed to fully resolve their dental issue and prevent it from recurring. We don't just treat the crisis and send patients away; we make sure they have everything they need to move forward.
Preventing Dental Emergencies
While not all dental emergencies can be prevented, accidents happen. Many of the most common dental crises are avoidable with the right habits and preventive care. Here is how to reduce your risk:
- Schedule regular check-ups and cleanings — Catch problems early before they become emergencies.
- Address dental issues promptly — Early treatment helps prevent more serious complications.
- Wear a sports mouthguard — Protect your teeth during athletic activities.
- Use a night guard if you grind your teeth — Reduce the risk of fractures and wear.
- Avoid using teeth as tools — Prevent chips, cracks, and other damage.
- Maintain good oral hygiene — Daily brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings help keep your smile healthy.
